Monochrome Friday – Funeral Procession

Funeral Procession, originally uploaded by anthonli.

Mourners preparing to go off on a procession after loading the coffin onto the hearse, causing a massive traffic congestion along the street.
In Vietnam, it is considered lucky to see a funeral procession if you’re on a trip and unlucky to see a wedding procession.
No idea why.

Wildlife Wednesday – Bumble on Lotus

Bumble on Lotus, originally uploaded by anthonli.

I was originally planning to post this yesterday. Yes, this image is taken using an iPhone.
The results is quite good too, as you can see the details of the flower and the body of the bumble bee. However, the shutter speed is not fast enough to show the wings, except for a slight greyish smudge above the bee.

Cam Phone Tuesday – Toilet View

Toilet View, originally uploaded by anthonli.

Taken from the toilet window in Ree Towers, District 4, HCMC after a meeting I attended there.
A typical aerial view of the city with its many, colourful terrace houses squeezed tightly.

People Monday – Grooming

Grooming, originally uploaded by anthonli.

Walking one day along the street of Saigon, I came across this woman having her hair done by the roadside while reading a book.
Many people just walk on by hardly noticing them.

Cam Phone Tuesday – Security tags

This is something I don’t see back in Singapore.
On the supermarket shelves, each bottle of Brand’s is individually tagged to prevent theft.
In Singapore, these are commonly sold in boxes of 6 or 12, but never individually.
This speaks of the disparity of earning and spending power in different countries.
