Travel Thursday – Padi at Sapa

Padi at Sapa, originally uploaded by anthonli.

In Sapa, northern Vietnam, there are plenty of terraced padi fields.
Unlike the river deltas with its half-annual harvest, the mountainous region only has 1 crop per year.
Terraced farming uses gravity as the means of irrigation. Here, water flows down from one terrace to the next.
