In many stretches of beach along Vietnam, you swim at your own risk. There are no lifeguards on duty. Usually, there will be boundaries marked along popular beaches where you can safely swim.
This does not however prevent accidents. In fact, drownings are common occurrences along many beaches here.
Here a Buddhist monk chant prayers for a victim of drowning as undertakers clean the corpse and prepare it for en-coffining.
