Travel Thursday – Fremantle Prison

Fremantle, WA 2011, originally uploaded by anthonli.

Fremantle Prison is a well known historical and heritage site. It was built in 1850 and closed in 1991.
You are only allowed to roam free in the forecourt, and there are various tours available if you wish to explore the prison, including the underground tunnels.
However, I went for the normal Prison tour, which took me to the various rooms.
Here is the isolation cells for condemned prisoners.
I took this through the view-hole at the door to give a greater sense of isolation and loneliness that characterised this ward.
