Travel Thursday – SIngapore River Hong Bao

River Hong Bao, originally uploaded by anthonli.

Today is the last day of the Lunar New Year! Time really flies!
Here’s a picture of the Annual River Hong Bao by the Singapore River just next to the Esplanade. To the Chinese, what’s the new year without the God of Fortune.
The God of Fortune statue is an annual attraction, with masses gathering at it’s base eagerly awaiting the statue to spew confetti. Apparently collecting them would bring good luck as not few people gather at the bottom with upturned umbrellas as seen in this picture where the crowds surge forward to gather the confetti however the wind blows.
