People Monday – Waiting for the Catch

Waiting for the Catch, originally uploaded by anthonli.

Again at La Gi, here are two women waiting away from the crowd for their family (probably husband and son) to come back with the catch so that they can sort.

The wheeled cart in front is for transporting the motor propeller back home. They would put the engine on the cart and drag the propeller pole behind their bicycles or motorcycles home.

Most families would own a motor propeller, even if they are too poor to buy a motorcycle. The few who still couldn’t afford a motor propeller had to settle for a wooden oar.
