People Monday – Breakfast Seller

Breakfast Seller, originally uploaded by anthonli.

Second day of New Year 2011.
I ate duck porridge for breakfast here in La Gi, Binh Thuan Province. Before breakfast, I managed to snap a shot of the seller with her little helper preparing the duck meat.
La Gi is the home village of my friend’s wife. For New Year, they invited me to rest there at their parent’s home (actually, we stayed at her uncle’s as the new house is still under construction.)
This stall is at the corner of the junction leading into the family cluster. As far as I can tell, the whole road was occupied by relatives (i.e. the houses on either side of the road belongs to some uncle or aunt or cousin.)
Overall, La Gi is a very relaxing beach village, I spent my time resting (read dozing) by the beach, under the man-made canopy the family restaurant.
For those who don’t know, La Gi is in Binh Thuan Province, the same place where you find the more famous Mui Ne or Phan Thiet. It is still a sleepy village, though popular with Saigonese looking for a beach holiday (it has only 1 hotel), but I think with time, it will become more touristy and commercialised. Meantime, enjoy the rustic lifestyle while you can.
