People Monday – See the Lanterns

See the Lanterns, originally uploaded by anthonli.

This is the 8th month according to the Lunar Calendar. The middle of the month is generally known as the Mid-Autumn Festival. It is celebrated in many parts of the world with significant Chinese influence. Vietnam is one of them.
Last weekend, I went to District 5, the famed Chinatown to soak in the atmosphere. The hallmark of Mid-Autumn are mooncakes and, of course, paper lanterns.
Here a little boy sits on his father’s shoulder to get a better view of the decorations around him.
