String Puppets

String Puppets, originally uploaded by anthonli.

During the 7th Lunar month according to the Chinese Calendar (Hungry Ghost Month), the Chinese will stage performances to “entertain” the ghosts.

Performances are in the form of “Getai” (literal translation: Stage Songs) or in this picture, string puppets.

Here, the puppets are hanging ready for their time on stage. Showtime!

    Hi,

I love such traditional puppet performances and wish to take some pictures of them too!

Do you have the contact numbers of the string and hand puppeteers, or where I can find them?

    Thanks in advance.
I really appreciate your help in this..

    • These performances are generally available during the 7th Lunar Month (around August)
I’ll try check around if I can get the contacts, but no promises though
