In front of the Ho Chi Minh City Train Terminal, known as Ga Saigon, is a decommissioned train.
I stopped by here on my way to the airport to fly back to Singapore.

Here’s another picture from the shoulder of Jesus Christ statue on the Little Mountain.
This is the area behind the statue, and you can see the lighthouse on the distant hilltop. The structure in the foreground is part of a military camp which is situated on the mountain. To the right is Vung Tau City.

Cam-Phone Tuesday – the Sugar cane stall

Sugar cane stall, originally uploaded by anthonli.

I was drinking at this roadside stall on Saturday when I took this photo of the old lady with her young helper making sugar cane juice.
Sugar cane juice in Vietnam is slightly different from those you get in Singapore. Firstly, it’s always mixed with calamansi, secondly, it’s drinked with preserved orange peels added in. This gives it a sour twist but is still thirst quenching.

People Monday – the Next Idol

Some more photos from the recent volunteer Saturday trip with my company. We went to a school for children with learning disabilities.
Due to some mistranslation, I’d thought that it was a school for blind kids.
As it was the weekend, most of the kids went home to spend time with their parents, and only about 10 teachers and 40 kids were left behind. Most of the children are either suffering from down syndrome or ADHD. It’s hard to imagine the 70 teachers looking after almost 200 kids.
We had a short karaoke session for the kids and here’s one singing away while another kid stands in front of her eager to be the next.
